Stone Worktops- Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between natural and engineered stone?

Natural stones like granite, marble, quartzite, onyx and limestone are quarried and cut into slabs, each with one-of-a-kind patterns. Engineered stones, like quartz and procealin, are manufactured for consistency and enhanced durability..

Do stone worktops need sealing?

All natural stones (like marble or granite) require periodic sealing to protect against staining. We’ll advise you based on the material you choose.

Can I put hot pans directly on a quartz worktop?

While quartz is heat resistant to a degree, we recommend using trivets or heat pads to protect the surface from thermal shock, which could cause cracking or discolouration. Stone Italiana quartz has a higher heat resistance than most other quartz slabs on the market but we still recommend using a barrier such as a trivet for pans.

Is natural stone suitable for busy family kitchens?

Yes – with the right selection. Granite and certain quartzites are excellent for high-traffic spaces, offering strength, heat resistance and longevity.

Can I visit Classico Marble?

Yes, you can. Come and view full slabs and samples at our Langley workshop to ensure you’re happy with the colour, pattern, and finish. We can also arrange a tour of our workshops so you can see how your stone worktops will be crafted by our team.

Do you offer help with stone selection?

Absolutely. Whether you have a clear idea or are just starting out, we guide you through the process and recommend materials suited to your space and budget.
